Remember that awful story about the EBT Snafu that led to entire Walmarts being destroyed? In what can only be described as the best news ever concerning that, Gov. Bobby Jindal began the process of stripping people who loaded up their shopping carts of their Food Stamp benefits.
If everything goes according to Jindal’s plan, offenders will lose their benefits for 1 year, 2 years or permanently depending on number of past offenses.
The Jindal administration will start with the worst cases first, according to Suzy Sonnier, secretary of the state Department of Children and Family Services.
“We must protect the program for those who receive and use their benefits appropriately according to the law,” Sonnier said in a prepared statement, according to The Advocate “We are looking at each case individually, addressing those recipients who are suspected of misrepresenting their eligibility for benefits or defrauding the system.”
All I can say is Go Gov. Jindal! These people actively sought to defraud the American government of its funds and Walmart of its goods and an example needs to be made.
