Will Walmart deliver groceries to your door via drone? It certainly looks like that might be the direction the retail giant is moving towards. The Motley Fool had an article yesterday revealing that Walmart filed for permission to test fly drones.
I remember a few years ago when the CEO of Amazon was on 60 Minutes talking about the drone program they were hoping to start and thinking how cool it would be to get what I want in minutes. Now it seems that this is coming closer to being a reality and Walmart is not going to be left behind.
This isn’t going to happen overnight, the FAA has promised a ruling on the legality of these drones sometime in the next 12 months, but we are getting closer everyday. I think the thing I am most excited about is the packages don’t necessarily have to delivered to my home. I could get my favorite coffee creamer delivered to me while I sit at Starbucks. Is that the craziest thing you’ve ever heard of?
