We are still in Chicago for the BlogHer conference! Yesterday I told you that I had an odd cab ride from the wrong Yolk restaurant to where Dian actually was. What happened is that after I told the driver where I was going he asked me what I thought of all these people shooting each other and war. That is a very odd question!!
The first thing I said was that I was against it. That seemed like a fairly safe answer. Then he asked me if I thought there would ever be a time that war would stop. Holy cow, I just want to get to my wife! I wasn’t expecting a deep philosophical discussion but I figured since he asked I might as well answer. I am a Christian so I gave him the standard Christian answer, that war and violence would continue until the day Christ returns to set His Kingdom up upon the Earth. Turns out this guy was a Jehovah’s Witness and agreed with my answer so I guess I get cabbie bonus points. I’m just thankful it was a short trip.
After dealing with Dian, I hit the mean streets of downtown Chicago and just started wandering around. I think of Illinois as a landlocked state (not on a coast I mean) so I was a little surprised to see some very nice beaches. If it warms up again before we leave I am definitely going for a swim. I got to swim in the Atlantic and the Pacific so it will be cool to add Great Lakes to my list.
Next up was the Navy Pier and I took a ride on the giant Ferris Wheel. I’m not sure which is bigger, this one or the one in Fair Park in Dallas.
Then I wandered over to Millennium Park to see the very unique art pieces. I’m sure this one has a different name but it looks like a bean so that’s what everyone calls it.
Finally, I took the Red Line to US Cellular Field to see the White Sox lose to the Tigers. I really wish the Cubs had been in town because I think I would have preferred to see Wrigley.
Remember to follow me on Instagram to see all my pics and I leave you with the #1 rule of grinder baseball found on the exit ramp as you are leaving the stadium.

The bean’s official name is Cloudgate.

Welcome to our fair city! Mean Streets of Chicago? I think not. As you can tell from the pictures you posted, we have one of the most beautiful cities in the states! Plus, philosophical cabbies! lol Hope you get your swim!

Just be glad it wasn’t a bazillion degrees out while watching the game… my father and son used to be the only goofballs in the bleachers when it was 110° out (at Wrigley though). Glad you are having a good time!
