Munsters Mansion Exterior

Dian and I got to do the COOLEST thing EVER yesterday!  A family in Waxahachie has replicated the Munster’s Mansion from the old TV show and we got to take a tour through it.  All I can say is WOW!  They put a ton of work into this house to make it as much like the TV show as they could and it shows!

Spot

The stairs have a little hatch that open up to reveal Spot, the family pet dragon!  There was even a little pad you could step on to make it roar, light up the eyes and watch it breathe smoke.  It was so cool!  Bear with me, at the end of this post I’m going to tell you how you can take a tour yourself but I had such a good time, I’m going to make you read through all my photos first. Smile

Herman Munster

They had a life size replica of Herman Munster in the living room that you could take pictures with.  You can almost hear his laugh!

Munster Organ

That is the same style of organ from the show and there was even a cookoo clock with a raven, just like the show.  It would poke its little head out and say “Nevermore”.  There was even an entrance to the secret “dungeon” in the side of the room.

Lily's Dresses

These are all replica dresses from the show that the owner would wear to lead guests through the home on a tour.

Suit of Armor

This is the suit of armor at the top of the stairs that actually turns on the bae to reveal a skeleton on the other side.  She said a few years ago, she had the actor that played Grampa Munster as a guest and he jumped in with the suit of armor and rode it around and broke it.  I really wish I could have seen that!

Grampa's Lab

Here’s a replica of Grampa in his bedroom.  That’s a marble slab that he liked to sleep on.

Werewolf

This was Grampa’s pet, the name of which escapes me.  It’s a little scary when you are coming around a corner and don’t expect to see him sitting there!

Munster Coach

They even have replicas of the Munster Coach and Drag-U-La.  I’m telling you, this was one of the coolest things I had ever seen in my life.  The craziest thing about it is that this is their home!  They live in the mansion year round and just open it up to the public one weekend a year for tours and it’s this coming weekend!

Not only can you take a tour but there will be tons of cool games, face painting, food and all kinds of stuff to do.  They even make sure to make most of the games free of charge because they don’t want anyone to be left out.

Bottom line, if you are ANYWHERE NEAR Waxahachie Tx, you need to check this out.  It’s only this Friday and Saturday and tickets are just $20 for Adults and $12 for kids.  Plus, this year you can meet Pat Priest, the actress who played Marilyn.  You can find more info on their website here but you REALLY need to go and see it for yourself.  I guarantee you won’t ever forget it.  Tell them that Grocery Shop for FREE at the Mart sent you!
